LG Dryer d80, d90 and d95 Codes: What They Mean
On LG dryers, d80, d90 and d95 are Flow Sense codes that mean the vent is about 80, 90 or 95% restricted. The dryer isn’t broken. Clean the lint screen, fix the duct behind the dryer and clear the vent, and the code goes away.

The short answer
LG dryer codes d80, d90 and d95 mean the Flow Sense system measured the exhaust as about 80, 90 or 95% restricted. They are vent warnings, not dryer faults. Clean the lint screen, straighten the duct behind the dryer, clear the outside hood, and clean the full vent if airflow is still weak. At d95, stop using the dryer until the vent is clear.

What d80, d90 and d95 mean
LG dryers with Flow Sense measure how freely air leaves the dryer. When the exhaust is restricted, the display shows how bad it is at the end of the cycle:

These codes are warnings about the vent, not faults in the dryer. Replacing a part won’t clear them.
How to clear an LG d80 code
- Clean the lint screen and wash it with warm soapy water.
- Pull the dryer out and check the duct. A crushed or kinked transition duct is one of the most common causes, especially on dryers sitting on pedestals.
- Check the outside hood. The flap should open fully while the dryer runs. In winter, clear snow and ice.
- Clean the full vent run if airflow at the hood is still weak. Long runs with several turns clog fastest.
- Run a normal load. Once airflow is back to normal, the code stops appearing at the end of the cycle.
If the code comes back with a clean vent
If the vent is clean and airflow at the hood is strong but the code keeps showing, the dryer may be reading airflow wrongly. The usual suspects are a lint-clogged blower housing inside the dryer, a thermistor giving false readings, or a vent run that is simply too long for the dryer. Under the 2024 building code Cedar Rapids uses, a standard dryer vent is limited to 35 feet, minus 5 feet for each 90-degree turn.

A faulty thermistor
Flow Sense relies on temperature readings. A failing thermistor can trigger airflow codes and also tE1 or tE2.

Some basement runs in older Cedar Rapids homes are past the code limit. They clog fast and restrict air even when clean.
