Common stacked dryer problems
Crushed duct in a tight closet
The most common issue. Stacked units are pushed tight against the wall, which flattens the flexible duct behind them. The dryer takes two cycles, runs hot and eventually blows its thermal fuse.
What we test: the transition duct and airflow at the outside or roof vent.
Door switches
Stacked dryer doors get used hard and sometimes slammed. A worn door switch or strike stops the dryer from starting.

Thermal fuses and heating elements
Compact and stacked dryers are mostly electric. A blocked closet vent blows fuses and wears out elements.

Why does my stacked dryer take so long to dry?
Almost always a crushed or kinked duct behind the unit, or a clogged roof or wall vent. Stacked units are pushed tight to the wall, which flattens the duct.
Is a laundry center worth repairing?
Usually, for a switch, fuse, belt or element. If a laundry center’s washer and dryer both need major parts at once, replacement may make more sense, and we’ll tell you.
