What makes a dryer trip the breaker
A heating element shorted to its housing
The most common cause on electric dryers. A broken coil touches the metal housing, and the breaker trips as soon as the heat comes on. The dryer may run fine on Air Fluff.

A scorched terminal block or cord
A loose connection where the cord meets the dryer heats up and eventually shorts or arcs. It often leaves burn marks and a hot plastic smell.

A failing motor
A motor with worn windings, or one straining against a seized roller or bearing, draws too much current and trips the breaker, especially on heavy loads.

Is it dangerous if my dryer keeps tripping the breaker?
